In 2008, LaGuardia Community College, led by Bret Eynon, held the first U. S. national conference on eportfolios. We started planning with the goal of bringing 200 people to the Conference. However, the turnout was over 500. Bret and his team did a remarkable job of promoting and handling logistics for this grand event.
Now, for the first time since 2008, another national open invitation eportfolio conference is being held in NYC. This time, however, we will need to limit attendees to around 120.
Since 2008, of course, the eportfolio community has grown and evolved. We now know that the context within which an eportfolio initiative is planned is the important consideration: the learning design, the goals, the practices, AND the technology are all critical factors. This conference will reveal the sophistication of thinking now regarding eportfolios and education.
This day and a half conference (starting with the half-day) is designed as a colloquium on day 1 and as a traditional concurrent-session conference on day 2. We are finding that this program schedule fits the eportfolio community right now as we all continue to get to know each other and as we get to know more about the experiences on various campuses with learning and assessment initiatives.
The Program Committee for Pace2017 will issue an RFP by October 1, 2016. Deadline for the RFP will be December 1, 2016. You will be notified by the holiday break in December if your proposal has been accepted.
The Program Chair is Beth Gordon of Pace. Local lead for the Pace Conference is Heather Askilsen. Leading CUNY's efforts on behalf of this Conference are Laura Gambino of Guttman Community College CUNY and Joseph Ugoretz of Macaulay Honors College CUNY.
