Out of Practice
As eportfolio professionals, we frequently sing the praises of eportfolios to students. But have we
started and kept our own eportfolio? Most of the time, the answer is no.
If you would like tips about how to start and keep your own eportfolio as well as support on your
eportfolio journey, you are welcome to join
Out of Practice.
About Out of Practice
After AAC&U's January 2011 Eportfolio Forum--where attendees were challenged to actively learn
and reflect throughout the day--a small group of eportfolio leaders took that day's challenge to
"walk the eportfolio talk" to heart: to actually create and update the eportfolios they advocate for
so passionately. Because while we require students to create and update eportfolios, we--as
eportfolio professionals--often don't practice what we preach.
As 2011 unfolded, folks got together, formed a group called
Out of Practice, each developed an
eportfolio--everything from course eportfolios focused on professional development to
comprehensive eportfolios representing all parts of life--and held each other accountable regularly
for their eportfolio creation and updating.
After the July 2011 AAEEBL World Summit (where the
Out of Practice group presented), the
five founding members have been joined by several additional eportfolio keepers! Won't you join
as well?
