The Transformative Nature of Assessing Student Evidence Webinar
    by Dr. Trent Batson

In 2012, LiveText will sponsor a complimentary year-long informational webinar series on timely topics in higher education, each presented by experts in that area who will share their experiences. We invite you to join us for our April webinar offering, presented by:

Dr. Trent Batson, Executive Director for the Association for Authentic, Experiential and Evidence-Based Learning (AAEEBL)
The Transformative Nature of Assessing Student Evidence in Electronic Portfolios
Wednesday, April 4th from 1:00 to 2:00pm CST
Register Online using this link. Deadline to register is Monday, April 2, 2012.

    Webinar Description:
Creating a learning design where assessing student evidence in electronic portfolios is the primary assessment process, and not testing, is more than a practical change. Such assessment is much richer and more valid than testing. We have said about teachers "you teach as you test," but for students the phrase would be "you learn as you are assessed." Creating a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate learning is far different than listening to a faculty member lecture. Implications are embedded in this seemingly simple change for institutional transformation at a scale and depth not seen in a thousand years. In this webinar, we will discuss ways to understand these deep changes in higher education.
