AAEEBL is the Service Organization for the full ePortfolio Community
AAEEBL is a global non-profit association dedicated to educational transformation and lifelong development. It is a vibrant community of practice that welcomes new members. During a time of rapid educational and technological change, AAEEBL offers guidance and professional affiliation and development. Unique in that our expertise spans both teaching and learning as well as technology, AAEEBL provides connections between academics and technologists on campuses, between teachers and developers and vendors, and among a wide variety of educational institutions.
AAEEBL offers high quality conferences as a service to the eportfolio community. The revenue to support these conferences comes from institutional memberships and the support of Corporate Affiliates. AAEEBL staff is not supported by government funds or an institutional framework. We are able to continue our programs and services due to institutional memberships and Corporate Affiliate support.
All can access general services from AAEEBL for free. For example, all appreciate our webinars, our conferences and our constantly updated Web site resources. All value AAEEBL's Annual Survey findings compiled by leading researchers. However, with your AAEEBL membership, you can do even more: As an AAEEBL supporter through membership, you can do more than value, access and take advantage of our services. By belonging to AAEEBL as an institutional member, you join in actually supporting continued services and research. Your commitment supports the growth and validation of eportfolio scholarship, research, theory and practice.
Below, on the left, is a list describing AAEEBL’s community services available to everyone. On the right is a list of special benefits for institutional members for an institutional rate of $800 per year. This price will remain the same through 2013, and institutions will continue to be able to join at that price and add unlimited people to their AAEEBL membership.
We are assessing AAEEBL's organizational development, our need to increase capacity and the many ways we have extended services and provided more to members since we last looked at our membership model. In 2014, we will most likely launch a new membership model.

- We share news and notices about AAEEBL and eportfolio community happenings.
|
- Members receive all news and notices plus a subscription to The AAEEBL Learner, our bi-monthly newsletter.

- We support 3 US regional conferences (Southeast, Northeast, Western) with 2 more in planning stages (Northwest and Midwest).
|
- Member institutions can propose to host a regional conference or serve on a committee to help organize an existing conference.
- Members receive substantial discounts on registration, and many choose to send teams to collaborate and learn together at regional/campus-based conferences.

- The Annual ePortfolio Conference in Boston brings together hundreds for learning and sharing about eportfolios and welcomes all to join in the community's ongoing learning and sharing.

- Even Greater Savings for 2013: Members have always enjoyed a substantial Annual Conference discount. In 2013, it increased to $250, applicable to the first 3 registrants from a member institution for a total savings up to $750. (That almost pays for an entire year's membership given the current membership model.)
- Members are invited to attend the Annual Executive Summit, our centerpiece event that brings together academic leaders with leaders in corporate groups that are all committed to AAEEBL's mission.

- We collaborate with sister organizations to support events such as webinars and conferences.

- Open to institutional members: Active participation and professional development in the field through membership on AAEEBL committees such as conference program committees, the Research Committee, focused leadership teams (just started in 2013), grant projects and working teams.

AAEEBL is helping to weave together a global effort to transform education, workforce development and lifelong learning through electronic portfolios and other, related technologies and learner-centered approaches. Together, as a world community of practice, we have a much greater impact if we are organized to learn from and to share with each other. We, and our sister organizations – EPAC; I/NCEPR; ePIC; the Australian Flexible Learning Network; Virginia Tech’s International Journal of ePortfolio; the annual eportfolio conference at the University of Education in Freiberg, Germany; MERLOT; the Centre for Recording Achievement (CRA); and ePortfolio California -- collaborate to grow the international community, and to advocate for transformation in education, workforce development and lifelong learning.
AAEEBL's institutional membership fee is $800 a year. Member institutions stand to save that fee in conference discounts, and to even gain more in return on their $800 investment when considering both the savings on attendance at the Annual ePortfolio Conference and regional/campus-based conferences.
